Louisville Science Museum

Today we took a field trip over to Louisville and visited the Science Museum. One of the kids’ favorite parts is the huge mirror at the entryway. I don’t know why it’s so much fun, but they all love it.

Zion loves to make music with this thing. It’s very cool. Touch one hand on one tube and one hand on the other to give it the sound. A very high pitched musical sound. The more you move your hands around the more music it makes.

Riah and Glorianna build a tower and then try to knock it down with the “earthquake” vibrator buttons.
Zion in a bubble. Another favorite.

Visiting Ancient Egypt and seeing the mummies was also very cool. While there you had to figure out if the mummy was a boy or girl, buy looking at different bone structures.

I want one of these around my entire house. I think it would be just awesome! This thing moves around the entire room, carrying different items.

Zion tries to turn the lights on by “running” the train like gears. This is a bit hard, but he managed.

This thing was cool. It has several sliding cards that showed bone, veins, muscles and cool stuff like that.

“Hi Kids.” This Skeleton told you all about the different bones in your body.

Riah goes shopping at Baby Bear’s Mini Mart. This area was very cool. It told you the difference between good food and bad food and “every once in a while” food as well as “every day” food.

After leaving the Science Museum, we headed over to Fraizer National Arms Museum, to watch a reenactment of “Treasure Island.” Upon arriving, we discovered that the skit had been canceled because of the heat. Apparently this particular skit is performed on the rooftop because they use real powder guns. So I guess I understand them not wanting to act in the heat.

We still got to see a really cool sword demonstration (which was awesome) as well as another very short reenactment about a girl pirate (it was ok.) But at least it wasn’t a total wasted trip. Hopefully it cools down some, soon, so we can still see “treasure island”.
