Wonderful Friends

What can I say?? I am so blessed. God has given me wonderful friends and family.

Every year several sisters from church, get together and go to a scrapbook retreat. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while, may remember past posts on this. Well this years retreat is in February. So I planned on going for a birthday/vday present to myself. As it turned out, this was not to be. Finances just had to be tweaked and non important things had to go. Even tho the scrapbook retreat means a lot to me, I knew that I had to sacrifice this time around. I was disappointed for a few days, but realized it was the right thing to do. I prayed for a peace about it and God gave me that peace. I accepted the decision and moved on. Trevor promised me a couple of scrapbooking evenings, while he watched he kids, to make up for it. I was perfectly fine with that.

Then came the wonderful surprise. Some wonderful people (you know who you are, so I wont embarrass you by calling your names) went in together and gave me the best birthday present anyone could have given me. A free weekend at the scrapbook retreat. I was shocked and surprised. What a wonderful treat. I am still marveling over the wonderful friends/family God has blessed me with. So as it turns out, I will be going to the scrapbook retreat, at the end of this month, after all.

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 34. One more year before I consider myself “old”. I will savor this year. To make my birthday even better…as if the wonderful surprise wasn’t enough…I got together with a friend in the afternoon. Our kids are the best of friends, so they all played and had a grand old time while I spent the afternoon chatting with one of my own best friends. She made an awesome cake, we had ice tea, and chatted for several hours. I couldn’t believe how long I stayed. Sorry!! But it was a good time.

To end the day, Trevor grilled a very tasty deer steak wrapped in bacon, some mini seasoned baked potatoes and supper was wonderful.

So from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for making my birthday a wonderful day and creating a memory that will last forever. I love you all!!
