Emond Family’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies
2/3 Cup shortening (I do half stick butter and half shortening…this is a MUST for the best tasting cookies)
1/2 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 Cups (all purpose)Flour
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 pkg (6 oz) chocolate chips (more or less according to your liking)
Heat oven to 375*
Mix shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla thoroughly. Measure flour. Blend dry ingredients in.
Mix in chocolate chips.
Drop by teaspoonful on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 minutes.
**It is also important to note….cookies will look undone at 8 mins but remove them anyway. They will finish “baking” as they cool. Let them cool slightly on the baking sheet (only about a minute) and then place them on a cooling rack to finish cooling.
