Over the last couple of months, things have been really crazy around. We’ve been going nonstop it seems. I spent a lot of time, during the month of June, babysitting the kids of a friend who spent a lot of time working/helping out at Still Waters. Our kids get along really well, tho, so it wasn’t really too much work. It was more like several play dates back to back. HA!
Then, during the month of July, Trevor and I had the privilege of helping out at Still Waters Camp. Camp 3 found us working in the kitchen. We worked the morning shift, which meant that we had to get up crazy early and be at camp by 6:30. But it was a lot of fun, and well worth the early mornings. AND we got to be part of the Friday morning Service. A blessing indeed.
I was asked to help clean the campers tents between camp 3 and 4. That was fun, believe it or not. =) Who’d have thought scrubbing down walls, bed, mattresses and such would be so enjoyable.
Camp 4 found us working in Go Carts. We didn’t have to get up quite as early this time around, and we only worked 3 days instead of 5, so that was nice. It was defiantly a lot of work for the sisters working go carts, tho. The brothers mostly cleaned the track, carts, and (ah hem) “warmed up” the carts for the kids. HA!! Trevor spent most of his time doing orientation with the kids or signing them in for races, where as I was required to make sure the girls skirts were pinned closed, helmets and neck guards were on properly and tightened correctly, and kept the floors and chairs cleaned. It was a lot of up and down. We also had to adjust and readjust seats and foot pedals in the go carts do to the huge variety of heights among the kids. =) Even tho I was pretty sore by the end of the first day, it worked out good and days 2 and 3 went much easier. BUT I’d do it again in a heartbeat. And the kitchen as well. Both were a lot of fun.
Having fun before the kids arrive.

Here I am helping adjust a neck strap.
Something else that happened during camp 4 was quite a surprise! Zion was called and ask to come. He was totally surprised and shocked, as were we, considering he’s only 12. So of course, once the shock wore off, we were running around like crazy trying to get things together.
So Monday morning, we packed up the family and off we headed to take one excited little boy to camp.
Ready to go sign in. He’s so excited!! Can’t you tell? I had to make him wave bye to me. haha
Here’s some pictures we got from the website, of Zion enjoying his week at camp.
This is probably my favorite picture! I want to frame it. He’s doing quiet time on the dock.
He really surprised us with which activities he participated in and enjoyed. He decided he loved paintball and blobbing. He only fished once. He liked go carts. But his favorite things were paintball, quiet time and campfire singing. I didn’t really expect him to like paintball or blobbing. And I figured he’d do a lot of fishing. You think you know your kids…hahaha.
He had a blast tho and didn’t want to leave. I’m glad he got to go. With the busy schedule we’ve been holding lately, it was nice for him to have a break.
(singing) “God is so good. God is so good. God is so good. He’s so good to me…. and my kids” =)
