South Carolina Trip – Part 1 – The Biltmore Mansion

Last weekend we headed to South Carolina for a weekend get away. A friend from Finland was visiting for a couple of weeks and Trevor wanted to show him a different part of the country. So off we went to South Carolina.

Our first stop along the way was in Asheville, NC to see the Biltmore Mansion. It was amazing. So much detail in the building, inside and out.

The Breakfast Room. The wall paper in this room was leather. That’s pretty incredible.

The Music Room

The view from the back balcony. Simply beautiful!

Father and Daughter enjoying the balcony.

Trevor takes a picture of Kristian.

The library was awesome! Probably my favorite room in the house. Two floors of books. Spiral staircase to second floor. Fireplace. Lots of reading areas. Absolutely beautiful.

And more rooms…

A 4 story chandelier. I can’t even begin to imagine how they built this.

Mrs. Vanderbelt’s Bedroom. The walls had 22 karat gold wall paper!! That’s crazy!

And more rooms….

There were 35 guest rooms. Each one had it’s own bathroom.

How would you like to have your very own indoor bowling alley?

Or workout room?

Or your own personal changing room for when you wanted to go swimming in your indoor pool??

Onward….here we find a huge pantry and indoor refrigerator type room.

And one of the 3 kitchens in this house.

Servants bedrooms.

And more pictures from the outside.

The gardens were gorgeous. But it took us almost 3 hours to get through the entire estate so by the time we were done we were all too tired to tour the gardens.

After leaving the Biltmore, we headed to our good friends, Bro. Bill and Sis. Elaine’s, house in South Carolina, where we would be spending the rest of the weekend. To Be Continued….
