This morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. We’ve had flurries off and on for the last few days, but today was the official “first day” of snow for the season. We only had about 1-2 inches, but that is the normal for our part of the country.ÂÂ
The kids were more then excited and were ready to run outside the minute they climbed out of bed. But I managed to corral them, feed them and dress them warmly, before letting them escape the confines of the warm house. They had a ball, running around in the freshly fallen snow. It seemed that this kind of snow was perfect “packing” snow. So there were several snow balls made, in an attempt to have a snowball fight. I don’t know what happened, but that didnt’ last long. Azariah ended up just throwing snowballs at the back door, and Zion ended up helping Glorianna make a small snowman. I wish I would have taken a picture of our first snowman of the year, but it was still early, I hadn’t even had my coffee yet, and it was just too cold for me to be heading outside that early in the morning. From what Zion collected for the snowman’s face (lemon drops and tootsie rolls) I’m sure he was one cute snowman. I didn’t get a chance to see him, because by the time I had eaten, had my coffee and cleaned up from the kids breakfast remains, Glorianna had managed to hug her snowman a little to hard and he got squashed. All that remains of him now, is a slightly melted pile of snow in the middle of the front yard. She was quite distraught about the whole thing.ÂÂ
Moving on….
Around noon, Trevor returned from hunting (with no deer) and after eating lunch and changing everyone into dry clothing, we headed over to Louisville to visit the Fraizer Arms Museum. They have 2 new displays right now, that we wanted to see.
“The Good, the Bad and the Cuddly” was devoted to toys, then and now. I suddenly feel very old. Most of the toys I played with as a kid, are now considered antiques and are in museums. Wow. Where has the time gone? It was an awesome display tho. Looking at all of those old toys brought back a lot o memories for me. Do you remember “Popples?” Those nifty little stuffed animals that could turn themselves into balls? And the “Wuzzles?” Those cute little mixed up animals? Boy, have GI Joe and Barbie come a long way. And Mr. Potato Head? I didn’t realize he was so old. He’s been around since the early 40’s. Anyway…I won’t give away too much of that display, but if you are living in the Louisville area, be sure to take the time and go see it. It’s definatly worth it.
The “Waterworks” display was pretty cool too.  They had some of the really old water filters and other cool cadgets that were used to filter water.  It’s quite amazing, really.ÂÂ
Back at home, Trevor is napping, the kids are all downstairs watching a movie and I am enjoying freshly baked cookies and coffee. ÂÂ
What a wonderful day!
