Zion doing school. Yes I know his desk is messy. He likes it this way. It drives me crazy!! He is such a clutter bug. I don’t know how to change that, so I try not to help him with his homework at his desk. I make him come to mine.
For spelling on this particular day, Azariah had to do his spelling words “seek and find” style. He had a lot of fun doing this, and I’m extremely thankful to the friend who gave us this giant white board.
Glorianna is doing well with her DVD schooling. She still needs me to help her with her writing and reading, but she is progressing nicely.
Every evening (or most evenings anyway) the kids have to spend some time reading before bed. It calms them down and relaxes them before they crash. They get to pick what book they want and where they want to read. Usually they end up in their rooms, but there are times when they are all spread out in the living room. On this particular evening, Azariah decided he wanted to read in the living room, spread out on the floor. He’s reading a “Chester Comix” on Homeschool Heroes. He has read it several times, but still loves it. My boys are a HUGE fan of “Chester Comix”. They are comic book style stories, based on different events in history. We try to get them a couple of new ones each Christmas. The kids really learn a lot from these little books and the best thing is…they remember what they have read.
A couple of weeks ago, Azariah learned about Ben Franklin in school. One of his activities was to make and fly his own kite. This was a lot of fun. We happened to have a fairly windy day that day, so after school was over, outside we go for Azariah to fly his kite.
He drew a picture on the front (can you tell what it is??)
Glorianna helps his get the kite up in the air.
We have a lot of power lines going across our yard. I was afraid that the kite was going to get caught up in the power lines, so I had the kids move across the street. We just so happen to have an empty lot across the street from our house. Its a major flood zone, so chances are good that a house will never be build there.
Seeing Azariah flying his kite started a chain reaction. So Zion pulled out his kite and had a go at kite flying.
