School Update

School is going very well this year.  It’s February and we are still going strong.  No tears and hair pulling.  YEAH!!!

The kids have been really doing a lot with the Keepers of the Faith program. They love earning badges and it makes them work harder knowing a badge is coming.  Then next one coming up is a Science Fair, which Zion decided he wanted to host.  So he ask his friends, Megan and Jacob S. to help him host it.  They are having fun planning it.  It is set for March.

Glorianna really wanted to do a project for the science fair as well.  So I did a bit of research for her age group and decided to do a lapbook on horses.  She still has some memorization to do before the Science fair but so far she has done very well.  I couldn’t find an actual lapbook on horses for her age group, so I had to create my own.  It didn’t go to bad.

Here she is holding her lapbook.  This is the front.  It has the names of a couple of different horses on the front and the inside.

This is the inside.

And this is the back side.  I labeled different parts of the horse so she’s know what they are.

For Art one day, Azariah was making a duck and a frog in a pond.  So I coped the “cut outs” and Glorianna made one too.  She loved this.

School should be finished by the first of second week of May, this year.  We are moving along at a great pace.  I still can’t believe the school year is almost over.  Trevor and I are going to a homeschool convention, in Cincinnati, the first weekend in April.  Wow…I have to start planning for next school year already.

Zion is learning about the Early Explorers right now.  He’s loving it.

Azariah has learned all about the Statue of Liberty.  Trevor recorded him telling us about it, but for some reason, I can’t upload videos to the blog.  So if you have Trevor as a friend on Facebook , you can see the video there.

The Liberty Kids DVD series is a big favorite around here.  As are Chester Comix.  Both are entertaining and packed full of Historical information.  So even when we aren’t doing actual school, the kids are still learning.

While on a “preaching trip” in North Carolina, this past weekend, we discovered that the nearby Park was a Revolutionary War Site.  How cool is that??  So we toured the small museum they had there and walked around the trial that was on the actual hill where the fighting took place.  There were seveal Monuments and Markers full of information about the war.  I forgot the camera at the hotel so I couldnt take any pictures.  I’m bummed about that.  But we’re hoping to visit there again some time, so i’ll make sure I have the camera with me for round two.

Isn’t homeschooling awesome!!
