School is going great. The kids are learning a lot , and so am I. I’m amazed at how much I am actually learning, right along with the kids. It’s even more amazing how much I realize I have forgotten since I was in school.
Now that we have gotten past the “not so good” part of Glorianna’s curriculum, things are going very well. She is loving every bit if it and never tires of learning. Here favorite thing to do is the learning hunts. I send her on little scavenger hunts around the house or outside to find shapes, colors or numbers, pertaining to whatever we are working on that week. She can write her entire name now, without asking me how to spell it, altho sometimes she does leave out the “I”. Why that particular letter, I don’t know. But if she’s going to leave one out, that’s the one it is.
Azariah’s cursive writing is coming along very nicely. He and Zion have contests on the chalkboard to see who can make the best cursive letters. While this is good for Azariah, it is also good for Zion, who really needs to work on his handwriting skills. Azariah also loves his “video” teacher, and loves to race against the kids in his “online class”. I have noticed a big improvement over last year, on his reading, spelling, and math skills. I do believe video school for this year, was a great choice.Â
Zion is moving along nicely in his curriculum. He has been studying “Native Americans” and their way of life. He is loving it.  We are getting ready to go to South Carolina for some Labor Day meetings, so we thought that since Zion is learning about Native Americans and such , in school right now, we take a short detour on the way home and go thru Cherokee, North Carolina. There is some very cool history there, and it will add to all of our learning, which is a big bonus.
Zion has read several books already this year. “Little House in the Big Woods”, “The Sign of the Beaver”, “If I Lived With the Cherokee”, “The Very First Americans”,  “Experiments with Plants”, “Dirt”, and a couple others.  I never really thought you could actually teach all the major “school things” by reading a book, but you can. It’s awesome. The workbooks that go along with the books he is to read, really cover a lot. He’s learing phonics, spelling, vocab, definitions, writing, history, science, plus a lot of hands on stuff .Â
His Math is still a bit slow for his liking. They are still doing some reviewing on top of adding in a few new things. He hates reviewing. If he knows it , he wants to move on.  I skimmed thru the book tho, and the reviewing is almost over.  He’ll be getting into geomatry very soon, which I know he’ll just love, cause he’s just like his dad.Â
He is getting ready to start on Ecosystems and gets to build his own. He is really looking forward to that. I’ll be sure to take pictures and post them, when we get into that.Â
Well that’s about it, for now, I guess.
