Where do I begin?? Things have been very busy lately. Trevor was invited to preach in Pennsylvania, at Bro. David Sanger’s church. This was unexpected and very close to an already planned trip to South Carolina, so some quick decisions had to be made. There was a wedding going on in PA, the same weekend Trevor would be preaching. Trevor knows the family of the boy getting married, and we had gotten an invitation, but didn’t think we could swing it with it being so close to the SC trip. A friend of ours from here, Steve S. was wanting to go to PA for the wedding, since he also had received an invite, so he and Trevor made some plans. Trevor and Steve would head to PA, just the two of them, go to the wedding, Trevor could preach at Bro. David’s on Sunday, and then they would head home on Monday. That would give me time to try and get things together for the upcoming SC trip. So that’s what they did. Trevor said he had a good time and services went really well. It was nice seeing some old friends.
(To back track a bit…) Bro. Luke Gibson, from South Carolina, had planned a “Fall Revival” a few months back, and had ask Trevor to come preach for 2 of the services. So we knew that since we would all be going on that trip, that there was no way for us all to go to PA as well.
(back to my story) Trevor returned home around 9 pm on Monday. We spent all day Tuesday packing, doing laundry and running errands. It was quite the day. Trevor was supposed to have that day off, but he had a few issues come up at work, so he ended up working about a half day from home. It was pretty crazy. This caused our errands to get delayed, so we still didn’t get everything done on Tuesday, which meant that we needed to finish them up on Wednesday morning, before we left.
Once this was all taken care of, and we finally got on the road to SC, we were 4 hours behind schedule. YIKES!! This was going to put us arriving in SC a lot later then we had originally planned. But at least we were going. There were services planned for Wed – Sat nights and Sunday morning. Trevor was going to preach on Fri and Sat nights. We were hoping to make the other services, tho, but with us running late, we knew that Wed night may not happen. As it turned out, we ended up arriving at our destination around 8 pm. The family we were staying with were already gone to church, so we told them we would just meet them there.
Even tho we were all tired, and dressed like bums, we still made it. We snuck into a back row at church and caught the last 30 mins or so. It was a nice way to end the long day.
The rest of the weekend was almost a blur. Trevor attended a prayer meeting on Thursday morning, while the kids and I just hung around the house. We attended service Thursday night, got into bed late and slept in a bit on Friday. Marie R. had taken Friday off of work, so we got to have a great day just fellowshipping with her and her family until church that evening. She made an awesome dinner of fried chicken. Yummy!!! One thing’s for sure…we sure do eat good when we go down south. ha ha
Trevor preached on “Millennium without Repentance” that night. The service was great and we could really feel the presence of the Lord.
Saturday, Trevor went to a prayer meeting again, in the morning, and then we all took a short hike up to Yellow Branch to see a waterfall. It was absolutely beautiful.
That night Trevor spoke on “Our Blindness and Satan’s Lies”. After service, we fellowshipped for a bit, headed back to our place of abode, and after a quick bit to eat, we all headed to bed.
Sunday morning we headed to church once again, for our last service of the weekend. Bro. Luke brought a wonderful message on “The Depths of God’s Love”. It was awesome!
From there several people from church went out to eat. We stayed as long as we could, but new we had an 8 hour drive ahead of us. So after many hugs, hand shakes, and good byes we slowly headed out the door and piled into the van for the drive home.
We arrived back home around 11 pm, tired and worn out, but truly blessed. The kids did awesome! I can’t get over how blessed I am to have such good kids. They never complained once, about having to go to all those services, being bored, or wanting to do something. They didn’t even complain about being overtired from the many late nights. They just really seemed to “chill out” the entire weekend. They did awesome on the drive out and back. I am so blessed and I am truly thankful.
