Trevor was asked to preach at a church in Ohio, so on the 16th we piled into the van for an extended weekend. Services were Saturday night and Sunday.
Saturday was crazy. Zion had a computer class he was going to, Trevor has some planting in the garden that HAD to be done before we left and I spend the morning packing and trying not to forget anything. But being as I was packing everything all by myself, I did indeed forget a few things….one of them being Trevor’s dress shoes which we didn’t discover until we got there, (about 10 mins before church started). Ooops…so he preached Saturday night in his tennis shoes. He said he felt silly, so Sunday morning before church, we went to a nearby store to find him a pair of dress shoes. Thankfully I didn’t forget anything that couldn’t be replaced on the other end. But that aside, both services were really good and the presence of the Lord was there. Trevor preached on “Beholding Christ” and “Thou Hast Left Thy First Love”.
Because service didn’t start until noon on Sunday, we spent the morning replacing forgotten items, and doing a little site seeing.
After service and some fellowship on Sunday, we headed about an hour further north to visit a friend (Josiah C.). His parents own and run a Kayak shop and they offered to take us kayaking on Monday. So we spend Sunday night with Josiah, so we could take advantage of that opportunity.
Monday….kayaking…what an adventure. This was my first time as well as Glorianna’s. The boys and Trevor had been before, but this was our first family kayak trip. The river was pretty tough to navigate because there were lots (and I do mean lots) of downed trees in the water. So after several times of getting stuck, paddling some more, splashing in the water, getting stuck again, paddling on, oh look – more trees, paddling some more, we finally reached the end. Trevor says he thinks it was pretty close to 7 miles by the time it was all said and done. No wonder I can’t hardly move!!
After kayaking, we headed back home. It was about 1am when we pulled into our driveway. We were all exhausted, but it was so nice to be back home.
So what’s next on in our crazy adventurous life??
Stay tuned and you’ll see.
