For the past year or more we have set the rule that Sunday’s are “no electronic day”. We wanted the kids to learn the importance of “Keeping the Sabbath”.  They spent enough time during the week watching movies, playing on the computer, wii, leapster, etc. that taking Sunday off was not going to kill them. They adapted well, and we had no problems.ÂÂ
At the beginning of this year, Trevor and I decided we were going to “extend” that rule a bit. So we now have only 3 days a week that are “electonic day”. The rest of the days, the kids have to find something else to do. The first day or two was hard. But it took less then a week for them to adjust. It’s amazing how much they have found out that they can do if they aren’t in front of the computer or wii.ÂÂ
We’ve had all kinds of interresting things going on lately. Legos, Super heros, hide and seek, board games, making our own comic books and the list goes on. The kids have finally discovered the importance of “imagination”. Zion was the one I was worried about. He doesnt’ have much of an imagination, but with this new rule in place, he has discovered that he can do other things if he sets his mind to it.ÂÂ
I like our new rule. I’m glad we put it into place. We may go down to 2 days a week and then 1 eventually, but for now I think 3 is pretty good.ÂÂ
Something that Glorianna has been doing a lot of is playing with her Mr. Potato Heads. She can make Mr and Mrs Potato Head, Buzz, Woody, and Jesse. She has a ball playing with them, putting them together, taking them apart and doing it all over again.
The only thing the boys like to do with the Potato Heads is pretend they are bombs, and throw all the pieces at each other.
But at least they aren’t in front of the screen….
