Memorial day was spent doing family stuff. I had been planning on taking the kids to the zoo for a couple of weeks, now, but it just hadn’t happened. So since Trevor was off work Memorial Day, we decided to take a family zoo trip. We got there just as soon as they opened, for 2 reasons…1-to beat the crowd and 2-to beat the heat. We did pretty well. The crowds began arriving just as we were leaving, and the heat was starting to get really, really hot. With the high supposed to reach 95, it was already up to almost 90 when we left the zoo. But we had fun. The boys wanted to do the “High Adventure” Course. (see http://www.louisvillezoo.org/skytrail/index.htm for details) They did well. Trevor ended up joining them, when they reached the top and “froze”. It seemed like they were up much higher then they really were, and they were afraid to move. So Trevor headed on up. Once Trevor was with them, they moved along much better. Even tho they were still pretty nervous, they made it through. Both boys said they would do it again, but Azariah said he’d wait until he was a bit older.
When we arrived back home, we finished “pool duty” and “garden duty” that we had started on Saturday, but never finished. So the pool is now officially “open” and the garden has been tilled and planted. We went light on the garden this year, because of our busy schedules, but at least we’ll have corn (if the squirrals dont get it again) and stuff to make fresh salsa. Yummy!!
The kids really enjoyed the first “official pool day”. They swam until they shivered. Its going to be a good summer.
We ended the day with a wonderful supper of grilled deer tenderloin, baked potatoes and baked beans. Yummy!!
I will end by saying a special “Thanks” to all those who have served our country in the past and those of you who are still serving. God bless you all!!
