For birthdays this year, I did things a little different then my normal “glorified play date”. We rented a shelter at a local park, invited a whole ton of people, and had a pot luck/fellowship/birthday party for Glorianna and Azariah. Their birthdays are 4 days apart, and I really didn’t want to mess with 2 separate parties this year, so this was the solution. It was a bit early, but it really didn’t seem to matter to them.
It was supposed to rain, but I prayed hard all week. This was about the only weekend in May we would be able to do this. Saturday morning, it rained. We had to play two soccer games in the rain. But still I had faith that it wasn’t going to rain during our little party.
We arrived at the park around 2:30. No rain. It was raining everywhere else. I even had people call me and ask if it was still on because of the rain. My reply? “It’s not raining here. Come on over!” And so they came.
Here’s some pictures of the event.
I made Glorianna’s cake, using some toys we had here at the house. Easy out but a big hit.
Azariah wanted an Angel Food Cake with strawberries and whipped cream, for his cake. I didn’t realize I had forgotten the strawberries and whipped cream in my refrigerator until after we had gotten to the park. Oops! But as it turned out…everyone ate Glorianna’s cake and the other desserts that were brought along, so the Angel Food Cake didn’t even get touched. Azariah got to enjoy his “Birthday” cake, the next day at home.
PLAYTIME!!
The girls won the tug of war. =) Go Girls!!
Scavenger Hunt!!
Hiking!!
It was a blast! A good time was had by all! I think every birthday party should be a pot luck. =)
There were a few presents from us, that we let the kids open when we got home.
Can you tell she loves her new housecoat?
Azariah was really happy to get some more Civil War guys.
I found this at a yardsale! What an awesome find! And of course, Glorianna loves it.
On Sunday the kids went up front at church to put in their birthday pennies. Azariah also got to move up to the older kids Sunday School Class. So now Trevor has both boys in his class. =) Fun!
Over all it was an awesome birthday party. The kids had a blast. I’m thankful the Lord answered my prayer and held off the rain. Praise His Name!
