March and April were both busy, but more with local things and not as many out of town trips.
A little back tracking….back in February of last year, my kids all pitched in and bought me a hutch for my birthday. I needed a place to store extra decor as well as some extra kitchen items. I really liked it, but it was not made very well and the heaviness of my big old waffle maker finally made the shelves give out after about a year. So I’ve been on the hunt for a new hutch, but didn’t want to spend a ton of money on one.
Fast forward to March of this year….
My brother, Samuel, recently moved and had a lot of furniture in storage that he just needed to get rid of. As luck would have it, one of those items was a really nice, REAL WOOD, hutch. It’s not very pretty to look at because it’s old, but it’s solid wood and very sturdy. No way is my waffle iron going to break through these shelves. (for those of you who don’t know… my waffle iron is one of those heavy cast iron ones that are used in hotels….we know a guy)
Anyway….Samuel sold it to me cheap and I love it. I’m planning on painting it and changing out the handles to make it look more modern, but for now it works perfectly, and the size is great. Some of the ones I’ve seen on FB Marketplace are too wide or too tall. This one was perfect. And there’s still plenty of storage.
I also set up one small area of the family room as my “home office”. It’s much nicer than the kitchen table, for when I need to work on Sunday School lessons and other things for Trevor. In this picture, I’m working on editing one of his CAB videos.
We also began work on staining the fence in the backyard. We’ve only gotten the inside done, and still have to apply a second coat, but we’re getting there.
Easter was different this year. Trevor was invited to preach at Bro. Barry’s, so the family spent Easter weekend in North Carolina. It was really nice. Trevor led a Bible Study and preached two services.
There was also a group hike on Saturday and I made some new friends and got reacquainted with some other friends I hadn’t seen in awhile.

Later in April, Azariah had a good time with some friends playing airsoft.
April was also the month for the Eclipse and our friends in Hagerstown, IN were right in the line of 100% totality. So on the day of the eclipse, Trevor and I drove up to Hagerstown to spend the day with them and watch the Eclipse. (The kids had to work and weren’t able to get off)
This was one of the coolest things I’ve seen. The drop in temperature and the false sunset was amazing. My camera just wasn’t able to capture the beauty of it, but it still made for great memories.

In other bits of (non interesting) news…
Glorianna and I got matching skirts.
And we went to a couple of plays this month as well. These were both so good.
With our friends, Emma and Olivia, who did a great job with their parts.
Overall it was a great Spring.
Glorianna’s birthday and graduation are coming up, as well as Azariah’s birthday and Mother’s day, so stay tuned for updates in the month of May.
