Italy Part Three

Tuesday, September 20. After another breakfast of croissants and coffee, we headed to our first destination of the day. The Bell Tower. We took an elevator to the top of this very tall building. Galileo was on the top of this tower and showed the Doge his telescope. That’s actually really cool to think about.

Across the street from the Bell Tower was Saint Mark’s Basilica. This is where the bones of Saint Mark are supposedly buried. This building was awesome. It had some beautiful designs and mosaic artwork. It had a lot less of a creepy vibe than the Catholic Church we saw the day before.

This sign was outside of the Basilica. There were guards making sure that you were covered properly before they allowed you inside.

Reminds me of this quote from Bro. Branham.

59-1124 BALM.IN.GILEAD_ SAN.JOSE.CA I went in to—to Rome just recently. And I went to San Angelo, the catacombs. And to a disgrace, it had a sign set there, “American women, please put on clothes and honor the dead”.

This was solid gold. It is on the back of the wall where the bones are buried.

More artwork inside the building. Some of the mosaic art tells Bible Stories. Can you tell which ones they are?

After leaving Saint Mark’s, we found a little restaurant near the canal and had some lunch – Pizza and Spinach/Cheese Cannoli. It was very good but not as good as the lunch the day before.

After lunch we had one last stop before it would be time to head to the train station. This was the “Jewelry Shop” that was in the Spiderman movie, but in real life it’s an Antique Shop.

We revisited the bridge that was in the movie too but didn’t take any pictures. It was very, very crowded. Apparently everyone else knew about that spot too.

This completed our stay in Venice. It was now time to go to the Train Station and head to Verona.

Verona, Italy!! Bro Isaac M. (the brother in law of the soon to be bride) picked us up from the train station and he took us to our airb&b so we could get checked in and rest a bit before meeting up with the bride and her family for supper.

Most everything we wanted to see was within walking distance of our airb&b, so we got to enjoy some of the views on the way to supper. We were meeting up with them at one of the local restaurants not far from where we were staying.

We passed by an old Arena. It looks a lot like the Colosseum in Rome. It is now used for plays, operas and concerts.

After having supper with Spransa’s family, we said good night and made our way back to our airb&b. It was going to be a very busy day tomorrow so we needed to get some rest.
