Glorianna’s Playhouse

If you remember….back in May, for Glorianna’s birthday, we were going to build her a playhouse. We found a bunch of wood on Craigslist for free, that was going to work perfectly. Now we just needed time.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I came across this on Craiglist…

I sent the link to Trevor. He jumped on it. “Tell her we’ll take it!!” I was a bit surprised, but when we talked about it…it was going to cost us almost as much if not more to build one, by the time we bought all of the materials we needed (not to mention all the labor that would go into it). And this play house was only 10 minutes from us. If we bought this one, ready made, then Trevor could spend more time working on our deck and pool.

So I contacted the lady and we went and looked at it. It was perfect!! It has a hardwood floor and the roof doesn’t leak. The front windows both open. The front door has a top and bottom that both open together or separate and the side door is full sized! It could use some new paint and some new trim but for the most part it’s in great condition. So we bought it. The next order of business was finding a way to get it home. This thing was crazy heavy. After calling around we ended up having to get a tow truck to move it for us. “The Shed Man” was who we went with and he had the perfect set up. Moved it in no time flat. He asked us what we paid for it and when we told him he said, “You all STOLE that thing!” Haha…even he knew we had gotten a really good deal.

We kept it a secret from Glorianna until this past Monday, when it was to be delivered. It was hard, but we managed and she was very surprised and happy.

We found a table and chairs at a yardsale. And an old teapot. I gave her a couple of my old pans and spoons to add to her collection. Now all we need to find is a kitchen of some sort and she’ll have the perfect set up. We are using an old table for her pretend stove until we can find another one.

Now we can use the free wood we got to repair the deck!

One project down…several to go…
