Glorianna – Soccer

The boys decided not to play soccer this Spring. They decided to ref instead. It worked out nice because they were working while Glorianna was playing soccer and it made things a lot easier. Plus they made some money which is always a bonus.

Glorianna’s team did great this year. We tied one game but won all of the other ones. So we went into the tournament being undefeated. Glorianna played goalie again this year and did a great job. During the semifinal game, Glorianna got hit in the eye with the ball. She had to sit out the rest of the game because she couldn’t see out of that eye. Our back up goalie did very well and we won our game. So we moved on to the final. Unfortunately Glorianna’s eye site still had not returned to normal – things were blurry in the one eye and she had some discoloring around her iris – so she wasn’t allowed to play the final game. So we just watched and cheered on her team. We won! We are the champions! Glorianna was so excited. This is the first time she has won a tournament. She got second place a few years ago but this was her first win.

After the games and excitement was all over, we got in touch with Glorianna’s doctor to see if she wanted Glorianna to come in for a check up. Gloriannas vision had returned to normal and the discoloring had also returned to normal by the end of the day but we thought it would be best to get the doctors opinion anyway. She suggested we take her to see an eye doctor because of her eye having gotten the full impact of the ball and had been discolored. So off we went. After the exam the doctor said there was some bruising and some bleeding behind the eye. She also thought there might be a small tear so she wanted us to see a specialist for another opinion. So off we went to Louisville praying along the way. After yet another exam it was determined that there was indeed some bruising and some bleeding but there was NO tears. Praise the Lord. He prescribed some eye drops for her to take care of the inflammation and wanted us to come back in a week. She’s improving greatly. The check up was great. She still has to stay away from sports and heavy activity for a couple of weeks but other than that she’s great. We are thanking the Lord for watching out for her and for the quick recovery.

Thankfully we are done with soccer for the summer. Not sure what fall will hold yet. But I have a feeling Glorianna is done. So we will see.
