Ghana: Testimony and Baptisms

Bro Jeffrey stopped by my room after the baptisms today. He said 13 were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

One sister in particular had been going to his church. She was baptized in the Pentecostal church before she started going to Bro Jeff’s church, she had been taking communion there, and could not understand why it was a big deal to be re-baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Last night during the service, I did a segment on how the name is important for us to have a proper relationship with God.  Imagine if a young boy and young girl were dating, and the boy came over to the young lady’s house and said “Hello……   ” and forgot her name.  What does that say about the relationship they have?  Or perhaps worse, He says “Hello <name of x-girlfriend> How are you today?”  Boom.  The boy is finished!  He called his girlfriend by the wrong name.

If I constantly called you by a name that was other than your own, you would get annoyed very quickly. If we are particular about how our name expresses our identity, where do we get that from? The One who created us like Himself.

So identifying someone by their name is important! The sister caught the revelation and desired to be identified by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

The book of Acts, specifically chapter 19 is still in action!
