Fence and puppy update

Well, we have survived week one with the puppy. We traveled the 2.5 hours to Elkton, KY on Nov. 29 to pick up the puppy and bring her home. For the most part she did well on the drive home. She did get a little car sick in the first 45 mins or so, but we were on back windy roads and I can’t really blame her. Once we got to the interstate, she was fine the rest of the way home. She slept part of the trip and mostly just looked around, probably trying to figure out what was going on.

The first few nights were a bit rough. We took turns sleeping downstairs with her, trying to get her used to her crate and she wasn’t too bad. She just wanted to sleep on the floor next to you instead of in her crate. We have started taking shifts at night because she can’t make it all night yet without having an accident. But I’m sure we will get there.

Glorianna has been working really hard on crate training and potty training, but we still have a ways to go. She knows she has to spend time in her crate but she’s still not a fan of it.

It’s been a week and a half and things aren’t going as fast as we were hoping, but I know we will get there.

We have also finally finished the fence. We still have to build an attach the gate on the privacy part, but everything else is done. We did two sides privacy and the rest is an iron style. It matches the railings on our porch and come spring when we get the lattice and privacy fence painted, it will all tie together nicely.

Excuse our messy yard. We still have a lot of clean up to do. We haven’t really been doing clean up as we go because we are just in a hurry to get the fence done. Once it’s all totally done and the yard looks nice again, I’ll do a nice walk around. But for now, here’s a look at what we have so far.

Overall, she is a really sweet natured puppy. She just wants to be near you and loved by you. She’s starting to understand a few commands but also gets distracted easily. She loves to be outside and is going to love spring and summer. Its getting colder here, fast, and no one wants to be outside for very long right now but once Ava can be outside totally on her own, I’m sure she’ll spend the majority of her day outside.
