The day after Trevor got back from Africa, we decided to head to Cincinnati for a family day. Our first stop was the Aquarium. It was fun.
This is the biggest, ugliest crab I have ever seen.
We got to see a mommy seahorse passing her babies onto the daddy seahorse. That was pretty cool.
We splurged a little and decided to do the backstage pass into the penguin exhibit. You got to see the penguins up close and actually pet one. Where it was cool and different, I did find it a bit overpriced. Not sure I would pay to do it again. But it was still a neat experience.
After lunch at Five Guys, Trevor decided to try one of the crazy donut sandwiches from the shop next door to the Aquarium. So he got the Strawberry Lemonade and the King. They were both quite good. Weird, but good.
After leaving the Aquarium, we stopped at Jungle Jim’s – an international grocery store that we had heard a lot about. It was kind of neat, but not near as cool as everyone makes it out to be. Id probably shop there if I lived in the area, but it didn’t seem to be worth a trip to Cincinnati just for that.
And our final stop was at a little mom and pop shop called “The Root Beer Shack”. They make their own root beer and it is known for being the best root beer in Cincinnati. It was pretty good.
Overall it was a really nice day. It was great to be able to spend time together as a family. Trevor has a lot of preaching trips lined up this year, so the time was can have just doing family stuff is going to be extra special this year.
