Easter

Easter was a bit different this year. With the corona virus messing up normal life for the past month–schools, stores, churches, etc. being forced to close, stream online only or limit those in attendance, we’ve had to stay home a lot more than normal. Trevor is working from home, Zion is back to doing “homeschool” because all of his collage classes are now online. The kids music lessons and teacher’s aid classes are now done via Zoom. The only thing that hasn’t really changed is our regular school. We’ve also homeschooled so just doing school at home is normal for us.

With this being said, we haven’t been to church in about 3 weeks. I really miss it. I miss the fellowship and I miss teaching Sunday School. But we get along as best we can and just keep pushing forward. We have been making the best of it and still had a really enjoyable Easter weekend despite it all.

Friday morning we had really nice family devotions. We read about Good Friday from the scriptures as well as a few quotes from Bro Branham. We had family prayer and then personal prayer throughout the day. That evening we listened to “The Perfection”. We didn’t get a lot of family time on Friday, tho, because Trevor still had to work and we still had to do some school.

Saturday we again started the day with family devotions and family prayer. We read the very short part in scripture about Saturday (not much is written about that), read some quotes from Bro Branham and talked to the kids about why we can’t stop at Good Friday, the importance of sacrifice, why lambs were chosen and what it all represented. Trevor then did a nice visual for the kids. We didn’t have a stuffed lamb for this visual so we used Glorianna’s giant bear, acting out bringing the “lamb”, confessing our sins, placing our hands on the lamb and the priest offering the sacrifice. I know I really enjoyed the visual and it really sticks the meaning in your head so that the understanding is clear.

Glorianna made some cross cookies later that day.

We had our personal prayer again as well. After lunch, we watched a “Sight and Sound” play on Jesus. It was really good. And then after supper we listened to “The Entombment”.

Sunday we had family devotions and finished up the Easter Story. Trevor treated us to Jeff’s Bakery donuts for breakfast. We enjoyed a nice service via streaming and then had personal prayer as well. We had some family time and enjoyed some crafts (I didn’t get pictures of everything) and just enjoyed the fact that “Christ has risen from the dead”.

Glorianna also did some crafts off and on all week. And again, I forgot to take pictures of everything, so here’s a few of the ones I did take.

This is a craft I had planned on doing with my Sunday School class, but since we’ve had to cancel those for now, I did it with Glorianna instead.

Sunday was kind of cloudy and rainy so I didn’t get the family picture I was hoping to get. Oh well. There’s always next Sunday. We also didn’t have anything fancy for lunch. Normally we would have went to my parents house for a nice afternoon of yummy food and fellowship, but with the “stay at home” order, we just didn’t plan on that this year. And because we aren’t usually at home for Easter lunch, I forgot to plan anything. I just didn’t even think about it. So we instead just had a simple lunch and some nice family time at home followed by Glorianna’s “empty tomb” rolls for dessert.

Over all it was a nice weekend. We enjoyed the extra time spent with the Lord as well as the family studies. I love that my kids are so involved in devotions. I can tell they love the Lord and love to learn more about His Word. Makes a mom proud.

I trust each of you had an enjoyable Easter weekend as well and that you all drew a little closer to Him.
