Merry Christmas everyone!
We celebrated Christmas with just us, on Christmas Eve. We started the day off with Chick-Fi-la. What a yummy treat. Then the kids finished up a YF quiz they had started earlier in the week.
Time to open presents!
Glorianna has been begging for a Mandolin ever since she saw someone playing one at the Spring program this past March. We thought maybe she would eventually change her mind but she seemed pretty set on it. So we decided to get her one for Christmas. We were able to find a set that came with the Mandolin, beginner DVD and book. So until she gets an actual teacher, this will work for now. Now we have a kid piano, on guitar and on mandolin. This could be fun!!
We also got her the Frozen movie. It was the only two things she has asked for. She was so happy.
Azariah wanted a bow. This was his only request. We didn’t really want to get him a junky one that he’d outgrown in a few years, so Trevor talked to one of the Brothers from church who is able to get hunting things at a good rate, and found this bow for Azariah. He’ll never need another one, unless he becomes a super duper pro hunter. haha. This bow will grow with him. He was really excited.
We also got him some books to add to his collection.
Zion was a little harder to buy for. He didn’t really want anything besides money. He isn’t really into anything besides techy stuff. Must take after his daddy. ha ha. So trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas was a challenge. Trevor finally found this techy stuff (don’t ask me what it is cause I really don’t know) but you can somehow build your own computer something or other. Not really a whole computer…but something techy like to get in touch with your inner geek. (grin)
We also gave him some money. He will add this to his stash and use it for a quadrocopter that he’s been saving up for. I think now he’ll look around and get a good one instead of just getting something cheap. He wants one with a camera on it. But he was happy about the techy stuff and the money….can’t you tell?
Glorianna takes after her mother and likes to make home made presents. So she made cards and pillows for Trevor and I. She’s so sweet.
Trevor got me a skirt and sweater and some really cool looking belts that’d I’m in desperate need of since I’ve lost some weight. =)
The kids got me a popcorn maker that’d I’d been wanting.
I got Trevor a shirt, tie and a game he’d been wanting…Trails to Rails Catan. And the kids also bought him a game. Another version of the Ticket to Ride game that has become his favorite.
And finally ….. Supper! Yummy! We had ham, sweet potato casserole, applesause, rolls, greenbeans, mexican cornbread, and cranberry sauce. I found this awesome recipe for cranberry sauce back at Thanksgiving and Trevor loved it so much he wanted it again for Christmas. I think it might just become a regular dish around here. It was also my first attempt at homemade sweet potato casserole and it turned out awesome!
We ended the day by playing games. What a fun filled day.
Christmas Day we went over to my parents house. The kids had a blast opening more presents and we spent the afternoon playing games with the family.
So today is pretty quiet. The kids are all enjoying their new lego sets from the grandparents and Zion is loving his new piano books. Not that those are quiet, but its a love of his and he’s having a blast.
I hope all of you have had a wonderful Christmas as well. We are looking forward to the day when we can all spend Eternity together and forever celebrate the reason for the season! Until then, I pray that Christ will forever remain the center of your hearts and lives.
