We had Christmas a day early, this year. With Christmas day falling on a Sunday, and with there being a service on Christmas day, we decided it would be better for everyone, to just open presents and such, a day early.
We didn’t do much for the kids this year. They don’t really need anything. I bought a few things that they actually did need, as far as clothes go, and wrapped them up. ha ha. Glorianna liked her new nightgowns, so that worked out to my advantage.
THe boys weren’t quite so happy about thier new socks. But they admitted later, that it was rather funny. Expecially since I had been telling them for weeks that I was getting them socks and underwear for Christmas. They’re just lucky I gave them their underwear a few weeks ago, or I really would have wrapped those too. ha ha
Azariah and Glorianna made their presents for Trevor and I. They did a very good job. Glorianna even sewed Trevor’s pillow herself. I just supervised.
There is a long running joke behind the present I got for Trevor. It seems that everytime we go to a museum of some kind, that has one of those really cool paintings…usually of some famous person, or the founder of the museum…Trevor talks about how cool it would be to have a painting of himself like that. So for Christmas this year, I decided to surprise him with just such a painting. I was hoping to actually paint it myself, but I’m not a very good artist. I tried, but I just can’t do people. So I had a friend of Trevor’s, who is an awesome artist, put this together for me. I got exactly the reaction, from Trevor, that I was hoping for.
The following pictures are from Christmas Eve Morning. The above pictures were of the night before. We like to spread things out.
Glorianna loved her Baby Alive Doll and her “Queen” Dress. The boys were super excited about their new Chester Comix (who else gets their kids education things for Christmas and they are happy about it??) and their new Wii game.
I seemed to be in an “artsy” mood this year. Outside of the “painting” I had made for Trevor, I also drew a picture for him. This is one of his favorite pictures. It was taken at the Still Waters camp we were at. So I drew it for him and framed it. I think he liked it. =)
We spent the rest of the morning, just hanging around the house. We headed over to my parent’s house around 1 to resume the festivities there.
It was pretty crazy, as it usually is, with 6 kids and several adults crammed under one roof. But we made it thru it and had a good time. My kids were very polite and thanked everyone who gave them gifts. I was proud of them.
Glorianna loved her “Rapunzel” Doll and her “Easy Bake Oven”. I guess we’ll be doing some baking today.
Zion got a “Magic Kit” which he has already been practicing. He’s loving putting on shows for us. And He got his very own version of “Monolopy”. He loves this game, but can’t get his brother to play with him very often. He’s hoping, now that he has the “star wars” version, that Azariah will play it with him. ha ha . I guess we’ll see what happeneds.
Azariah got a “Slime Making Kit” which he is pretty excited about. We made our first batch of slime last night. Gross. He also got some more legos, which, of course, he just loves. What is it with boys and legos, anyway?
Over all it was a nice weekend. We got to go to church on Christmas Day, and it was wonderful service.
After lunch, we went over to my grandparents house and did a little Caroling and Singing for her. She enjoyed it, and it was a nice was to spend the after noon.
Isaac and Sunny came over that eveing and we ended the day with several fun filled games.
