Chicago Trip

It’s the weekend before school starts. We had planned on meeting up with Trevor’s brother in Chicago for a day of hanging out. They were taking their son to get settled in collage and since Trevor and Tristan hadn’t seen each other in 5 years, we thought this was a good time to get together.

We arrived at the hotel Sunday evening. After checking in, we headed out to get some supper. We stopped at “Meatheads”. It was very good. The kids (and Trevor) had arm wrestling matches while waiting on our food.

After supper we headed back to the hotel to wait on the arrival of Tristan, Sarah and Seth. They arrived shortly after and we spent about an hour in the lobby, just chatting and such, then headed off to our rooms. Monday morning after breakfast, we all checked out of our rooms and headed to downtown Chicago for some sightseeing.

The “Bean”. This was pretty cool. Why a huge metal bean looking thing is so popular I’ll never know. But it was something to see and it was kind of interesting.

There was an orchestra warming up for an evening concert in the amphitheater, so we watched for a bit. Very nice!

This was a great photo shoot idea. We had fun with this one.

For lunch we had “Chicago Style Pizza” at one of the local pizza places.

After a fun day of sightseeing and good food, we said our good byes and headed our separate ways.

(Just as a side note, the Wednesday before we left for Chicago, our AC went out. So we spent the rest of the week trying to stay cool. It was pretty miserable some days. But we got through it. We had it looked at, got the result that it was 12 years old and pretty much at the end of it’s life span, so we ordered a new one. It was supposed to be set up on Monday. We knew the brother who was putting it in, so we told him where the house key was hidden so he could set it up while we were gone. It was so nice to come home to a working AC unit.)
