Another birthday has come and gone. I’m one more year closer to 50. That’s crazy. This year I turned 48. How is that even possible?
Plans for my birthday changed a lot. Originally Trevor and I had thought about going out of town for the weekend. I had also thought about going to a play or something. But Trevor has been super busy with work and had done some traveling with that, so between his work schedule and the travel for ministry, I decided I just wanted to have family time at home. I decided to do something different and do a themed party. We still had our outfits from our Victorian Themed Youth Banquet a couple of years ago, so I thought….Let’s do a Jane Austin themed party, dress in costume, watch Pride and Prejudice, eat “boiled potatoes” and do some painting.
Overall it was just an excuse to do stuff with my family. Now that I have all adult children and one is married, I find myself just wanting to hang out with them whenever I can.
This being said…here’s how the day went.
We started the day off by going to First Watch for breakfast. Then we did a little shopping.

We also took the vehicle through the carwash and I thought this would be a fun photo shoot. Haha.

Back at home, we played Scrabble. I love Scrabble but no one else really does. So my birthday and mother’s day are the two time a year they all play it with me and no one complains.

I didn’t expect to win. I usually don’t. But this time I not only won, but I won by a lot. I was able to play a 7 letter word and earn an extra 50 points. Crazy.

Zion and Camille had stuff going on that morning, so they joined us at 5:00 for our themed supper/party.

Supper was boiled potatoes, rotisserie chicken, carrots and broccoli. It was really good.

Glorianna made brownies with peanut butter sauce for dessert.

One of the things I had wanted to do for Christmas, was buy some cheap canvases at the goodwill and repaint them into winter themed pictures. Since I had the flu and we weren’t able to do that, this now became a great idea for my party.
Here are the before and afters:

Somehow we forgot to take one of Glorianna’s. But her’s was really good. This was a lot of fun.
And now it’s time for silly family pictures:

A couple of days later, Trevor, myself, Zion, Camille and our good friends, Aaron and Becah, went out to eat for our birthday celebrations. Camille’s is Feb. 5 and mine and Aaron’s are Feb. 7, so this was a nice way to celebrate us all together.

I love my family and am glad they like to do silly things with me. I am blessed.
