Bequia Part Two

Friday, December 1. We had a nice relaxing morning. We enjoyed our beautiful view and after breakfast, we took a walk along the beach.

The sisters from the church came over and made us a really nice lunch. After lunch, the pastor, Bro Chris, took us to the local grocery store. Ok….so here’s the thing. There’s no chain restaurants, no chain stores, no grocery/pharmacy’s/banks, etc. on every corner. They have one area that has about 1 of each of these. And there are a few stands on the sides of the road where you can get fresh fruit and veggies. We went to the small grocery and bought some snacks and drinks. Bro Chris kept us well supplied with food and bottled water, but we just wanted a little something to snack on if we needed it. We also stopped at one of the small venders to buy some souvenirs. Trevor found himself some really cool rings that he’s decided he wants to start collecting, to change out to match his suits. I think that’s a cool idea. I would’ve bought myself ones to match but they didn’t have any to fit me.

This one is made out of a turtle shell.

This one is made out of a whale’s tooth.

The sisters came by once again to make supper for us. This was the daily routine. We were on our own for breakfast, but the sisters always came over and cooked lunch and supper for us. Some of the foods we’ve eaten are:
Shark:

These rolls were soooo good. Nothing like homemade bread/rolls.

We also had butterfish and conch (some kind of muscle).

Soup (I don’t remember the name) with chicken, spinach like veggies, carrots, dumplings and potatoes. It was ok. I wasn’t a huge fan of it. We had this twice. Once with chicken and once with beef. I like the one with beef much better.

We also had turtle, whale (very fishy tasting), and codfish fritters (these were amazing). There was other foods too but I forgot to make note of them and didn’t take pictures of everything.

Service that night was good. Bro Stephen preached and did an excellent job.

Saturday, December 1. We slept in a bit this morning. We had some big plans. We were going to go snorkeling. Aaron, Becah and I have never been before, so this was quite the adventure. But we all succeeded and had a great time. We got to see some pretty cool things under the water that you don’t normally get to see.

Can you find the seaturtle?

When we were finished snorkeling, we went back to our villa, cleaned up, had lunch and then went down to the one small tourist area to walk around. They have a cute little bakery/coffee shop, an ice cream shop, a restaurant and a nice boardwalk around the area.

One of the sisters from church had us over to her house. She made the most amazing sweet bread with raisins that I’ve ever had in my life! I could’ve eaten the whole loaf. She sent a second loaf with us to take back to the villa.

Me, Jennifer, Sis Corine, Sis Theadora, Becah

There was no service tonight so we spent the evening relaxing, walked along the beach again, and fellowshipping with some of the believers.

To be continued….
