Bequia Part Four – Homeward Bound

Wednesday, December 6. Well. It’s time to begin the journey home. We had breakfast and packed up our suitcases. Bro Chris needed to pick us up at 8:30 so we could make sure to be on the 9:30 ferry in order to make it to the airport in Saint Vincent on time. Bro Chris and Bro Obadiah would travel with us to the airport so they drove their cars onto the ferry. This way, they could drive us to the airport instead of us getting a taxi. The ferry ride was much harder on me this time around. Even though Trevor said the waters were less choppy, it seemed worse to me. Once we made it to Saint Vincent, we still had about 3 hours before we needed to be to the airport. We were about 45 mins from the airport, but still had time to kill, so Bro Chris took us to the nice little roadside restaurant for lunch. Thankfully my stomach settled enough for me to eat a little. It wasn’t perfect, but it was slowing returning to normal.

We said our good byes to Bro Chris and Bro Obadiah at the airport, and began the next leg of the journey home.

We made it through customs with no issues and made it to Miami, FL with plenty of time to make our connecting flight to Louisville. This was really good news. I was even able to apply for my global entry ID so that traveling in and out of the country with Trevor, in the future, would be much easier. Praise the Lord. That went super fast and we had no problems with the flights home. We arrived in Louisville around midnight, but it was so good to finally be home.

Would I go back again? Yes. I would. But I would have to figure out a way to not get motion sick on the ferry. And I’d take a few more things from home with me just to make my stay a bit easier. I carried a water bottle and a fan with me pretty much everywhere I went in Bequia to keep from getting over heated. But cooler, lighter colored clothing is something I will invest in as well for future trips. Also…you probably shouldn’t drink the water there. Stick with bottled water. Even for brushing your teeth. They use rain water that they catch in barrels from their roof and then recycle it to use as their running water. So there is no filtering of the water. I’m not sure how it would affect me if I drank it, and I didn’t want to chance it, so we always made sure we had plenty of bottled water to use.

Overall it was a great trip and a great experience for me. I’m thankful I had the opportunity to go.

Here are a few more pictures from the trip that I forgot to post.

And there you have it. I hope you enjoyed this journey with me. I can’t wait to see where the Lord leads us next.
