Friday, April 16 – We got up early and decided to get to the Magnolia Table for breakfast when they opened at 7. We got there about 5 after and there was already a long line. We were told it was going to be about an hour wait. Wow! Popular place. So we put in our reservation and then ran over to a nearby Starbucks to get coffee while we waited on our table.
The food was excellent and the decor/design was beautiful.
After breakfast we went to the Dr. Pepper Museum. That was kind of cool and brought back a lot of memories from our childhood.
After leaving the Dr. Pepper Museum, we stopped back by the Homestead Heritage Place to visit all of the shops. That was pretty neat to see. Then we left Waco and headed towards Dallas where we would spend the rest of our trip. Our good friends, Bro. Wade and Sis. Heidi (who we would be staying with for the weekend) treated us to supper at the favorite Texas BBQ place. Just tell them what kind of meat you want and how much of each, and they slap it on your plate along with any sides you’d like.
We then enjoyed an evening of fellowship at their house.
Saturday – April 17 – We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast served by Sis. Heidi and then we went to town to do some site seeing and some shopping. We spent the afternoon with Kyle and Karen and really enjoyed taking to them as well. Then we all headed back to Bro. Wade’s house for Sis. Heidi’s famous homemade pizza.
Sunday – April 18 – We enjoyed service at Bro. David McG’s church and enjoyed meeting some more Believers. Bro. David asked Trevor to preach the evening service. He preached on “No One Must Know”. Both services were very good and we enjoyed lunch and fellowshipping with more Believers.
Monday – April 19 – After packing up, we went with Bro. Wade and Sis. Heidi to meet up with Kyle and Karen at a local bakery for breakfast. It was very good.
We soon said goodbye to our good friends and headed to our final stop. Bro. David and his wife had invited us over for a couple of hours before heading to the airport. We enjoyed getting to know Bro. David and Sis. Leslie a little more.
Thankfully our rental car return and flight home were much easier this time. We made it home around 6:30 Monday night.
What a wonderful trip we had. It was so good to be able to just get away for a little while with out the kids. I missed them and am glad to be back home, but must say that I’m looking forward to another get away in the future.
