April

April was much different than we ever anticipated.

The kids started the month off by driving to Tennessee, for a weekend of special meetings at a friend’s church. Trevor and I had the weekend free and it was nice to just hang out for the weekend. God knew we were going to need the rest.

A couple of days before Easter, Zion was in a car wreck. (If I haven’t mentioned it before, he rents out his car on Turo, which is basically an Airb&b for cars). He had just dropped it off for the renter that Tuesday morning, so he was using our expedition for his orchestra practice at IUS. It’s probably a good thing that he was in our car and not his. Even tho our car ended up being totaled, he walked away without a scratch. I believe the other drivers were ok as well, so thank the Lord for that.

But now with Zion’s car rented out, and the family car totaled, we were down to two vehicles for the 5 of us. I spent a couple of days driving kids here and there until we got Zion’s car back from the renters. He then blocked of the rest of the month to keep it from being rented out again, until we could figure out what to do.

Easter weekend was a good time, despite our lack of a car, but we enjoyed the services and celebrating the resurrection of our Lord.

My Sunday School class, along with Sis Rebekah’s class, sang a special for Easter Sunday and they did an amazing job.

Glorianna and I spent one Friday with my parents and we went up to Madison, to walk around some of the cute little shops there. We enjoyed lunch at one of the small diners and had an awesome time.

It was obvious we needed a new car, but we didn’t know how to make that work and we really didn’t want to have to go into debt to get a new one. So we just prayed about it and waited to see how much the insurance would give us for our car. To make a long story short….God worked it all out. He practically dropped this other expedition in our lap. The price was right and and everything pointed to us getting this one. The only down side was that it was in South Carolina. But that also ended up working out. Trevor was going to fly to SC on Friday night and drive the expedition back on Saturday.

The timing was just what we needed, because tragedy struck when we least expected it. On Thursday, April 20th, we all went to my parents house for a fish fry. Samuel, Ashley and Lily were there as well and we had a great time of hanging out. Early the next morning, April 21st, Ashely passed away unexpectedly at their home. We were all quit shocked. It has only been a week and a half since Ashley’s passing and there are still a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of work to be done for Samuel and Lily. Samuel is still having a hard time and has moved into my parents’ house, so at least he’ll have plenty of help and won’t have to be alone. Thank you to those of you who have been praying for Samuel and us.

Trevor still ended up flying to SC to get the “new to us” vehicle. It’s a 2010 Ford Expedition, which is a year newer than our other one, and it had a lot less miles. The previous owners took great care of it and it runs like a charm. It brought some joy into our lives just when we needed it.

And some other updates for the month:
Glorianna is still doing very well in Prosser. She’s learning a lot and her cooking skills are growing.

Azariah’s 3-D printing skills are also growing. He’s still mostly just doing this for fun, but he is having a great time trying new things.

I requested and “Empty Tomb” for Easter and he did a great job on this one.

Zion is still in orchestra, but is thinking of finally calling it done. He stays pretty busy and even tho he loves to play cello, he’s is in need of a break.

It’s been quite the month. But it’s all in God’s hands. April has officially ended and May has begun. Looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for us this month.
