Kitchen Remodel Part 4

We finally got the dining room painted over Christmas/New Years break.

Our “before” was cream on the top and dark green on the bottom with brown wooden trim/chair rail. Which I forgot to get a picture of. But you can see some of it sticking through and in the corner of one of the door pictures.

We had to do some mudding because our walls are in such bad shape, but overall it turned out well.

We decided to paint all of the brown trim white as well as the bottom half of the main wall. We went with Sherwin Williams “Pavestone” on the upper half of the wall and above the cabinets. This is the same color grey we have on our accent wall in the living room. So it really ties the two rooms together.

We traded out the blinds in front of the door for curtains. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not, but I do. It really adds to the look of the kitchen.

We added a few shelves to the main wall. I got these on clearance at Menards and they were perfect. Score!! I love it when that happens. I’m not sure what to put on the smallest one or if I will keep the candles on there, but for now this will work.

***Updated*** I went through some of my stuff I had packed away for the winter and found some small items that actually went perfect on the smaller square shelves. Woo!!

And finally we added the crown molding. We connected it to what was up the the living room to add the final tie in.

There’s a few little things that still need done, like touch up painting, painting the crown and adding some small trim to the top of the cabinets. Just to give it a finished look. We are going to paint that part the same as the cabinets so that it will blend together. That might be next weekends project.

And I think we are done. At least for a while. Home improvement takes a long time and a lot of money. So we just have to take it slow and do a little at a time. I’m not sure what our next big project will be but I promised Trevor that he could pick the next one and the time we chose to do it. (grin)
