I spent the last couple days slicing, marinating, and dehydrating some of last years deer meat. It needs to be out of the freezer, and jerky is a great way to do that.
I pulled off most of the jerky strips from the dehydrator this morning. I think I got the marinade mixture almost perfect this time. Not too salty, a bit sweet, and a bit spicy. Reeaaally yummy!!
In other news, Zion and I went hiking last saturday. I obviously took my gun just in case we happened to see a deer, which of course we didn’t with Zion being as loud as he was. He honestly TRIED to stay quiet, but alas, he’s really isn’t able to.
The new carpet is great, as you can see in Wife’s blog. We’re really enjoying it, and it did so much for the house.
Thanks to everyone who has sent Christmas cards, pictures, and letters. The door is looking quite festive now. Speaking of Christmas, I believe we’ve been done with the limited shopping that we did do for awhile. We’ve maybe picked up a thing or two here or there, but it’s been relaxed pretty much. That’s nice. The other day, AnnaMay quipped “Can we open a present”. To which I introspectively replied…”it starts”. She can’t handle surprises very well.
Ok, gotta go work…might post more later.
