Our 6th Anniversary

Here’s a few pictures of our romantic 6th anniversary. It started out really nice. Stopped by some yard sales and got some stuff for homeschooling Zion. Bought a cheap computer, a computer desk…things like that. Obviously shopping for homeschool stuff for your first kid’s kindergarten necessities is a very romantic symbol. It speaks of commitment of the past and the future commitment to your family.

Later, the boys and I washed my truck. A nice clean SUV is also a very romantic symbol of pride in the relationship. Obviously, if one is motivated enough to keep their vehicle clean at least semi-annually, they have what it takes to have a great relationship. So for me, washing my Explorer was a very moving thing to do on our anniversary. Hey, I proposed in the old explorer, so this had deep meaning for us.

Later, as the day wound down, AnnaMay and I used some gift certificates to Best Buy to get a movie we have wanted for awhile. We bought Left Behind III, World at War. Obviously you can see this is an excellent title for romance and such and is very appropriate for an anniversary celebration.

We got a few things at Meijer. Obviously shopping at Meijer on an Anniversary speaks to commitment to your relationship, family, and community. Uhm… although I’m trying to figure out how at the moment.

I sprung for a romantically cool bottle of Blueberry Lemonade. We still had a few unbroken champagne flutes in the cupboard. How they survived the last 6 years with my breaking things all the time, I’ll never know. Obviously, unbroken champagne flutes are a testament to a good marriage.

And Friday after work, I brought home the leftover cupcakes from work…It was Emily’s last day… Just perfect for a romantic occasion! The symbolism in left-over work party cupcakes is so very stunning. It speaks of duty and thoughtfulness, even if you are poor. So below is the picture of our romantic little snack.

The blueberry lemonade was horrible, and we didn’t eat the cupcakes till the next day.

I also popped the cork before AnnaMay was in “celebrate” mode… she was still in Mommy mode of getting kids to bed. I really didn’t think it would “pop” and “fizz” like it did… So that coulda been better I guess. But even in that, there is rich symbolism. Sometimes in a relationship, things just don’t go right… but you still love each other anyhow.

So, that was our romantic 6th anniversary day!!
