Thursday we left the kids with a trusted sitter and headed to Wears Valley Tennessee for a much needed getaway.
I took along my scrapbook stuff and Trevor took along his church age book so he could work some more on the curriculum he’s making.
We were expecting it to be pretty clear the whole weekend. But Friday morning we woke up to this.
It was beautiful. The flakes were huge. And the view from our cabin was amazing. We just didn’t expect it. So it changed our plans a bit. We had thought it would be cool for our sitter to bring the kids to the cabin on friday night so they could all enjoy it as well, since we weren’t leaving until Sunday. But after attempting to venture out, which scared me half to death, I decided that it probably wasn’t a good idea for them to come. We were on the top of a very, very steep hill. We slid several times trying to get down and I finally told Trevor to forget trying. I even got out of the van and said I was going to walk. Thankfully the Lord sent along an angel (one of the locals who lives in a nearby cabin) who had a gator and he gave us a ride back to our cabin. We left the van in a driveway where no one was currently residing and stayed in the cabin until that afternoon. The plows came through and cleared everything up making the hill a lot less scary.
But with that all in mind, we decided that it was probably better if the kids didn’t come. I really didn’t know if the roads would get icy or if it would snow again and I didn’t want our sitter having to drive in that. But it turned out fine and Trevor and I just had an extra day and a half all to ourselves.
This was probably my favorite place in the cabin. Sitting in front of a roaring fire, sipping coffee and reading. We really need a fireplace at our house.
The view from the master bedroom, which was in the loft.
We forgot to take a selfie at the cabin, so here we are after we left.
Over all it was a really nice time. It was nice to just sit and relax for a few days.
And I thank the Lord for holding of the next winter storm that was moving in just as we arrived back home. So as I type this the snow if falling once again and its beginning to look like winter will never end.
