Sunflowers

Glorianna’s birthday was in May.  One of the presents she got was her very own sunflower growing kit.  We started them inside the house and then moved them outside when they got too big for the indoors.  It grew quite fast.  She went outside every couple of days and watered it and talked to it.

Last week it had reached it height, and then started to die.  She was quite upset that it was dying.  I tried to explain to her that they don’t live forever, but she was still upset.  So Trevor cut the plant down and we brought it inside.  He showed her how to remove the seeds and then explained that we could cook them and eat them.  She found this quite funny.  Suddenly, the fact that her plant is dead, is not longer sad.  She’s looking forward to eating her sunflower seeds.
