Glorianna

Quick recap:

On Mother’s Day (Sunday), Glorianna asked to be baptized. So I mentioned it to Trevor. He was fine with it. (she’s been asking off and on for a while now, but hadn’t really decided to have it done when we talked to her about it…this time she seemed serious). But then I happened to remember that Bro. George S. has been doing the baptizing lately, when he’s in town. Glorianna is a little afraid of Bro. George. He tried to tickle her a few times and she tripped and fell, trying to get away from him, and scraped up her leg. So ever since then, she has avoided him. This being said…I wasn’t sure if she would let Bro. George baptize her. So Trevor decided to have a talk with her.

Trevor: You really want to get baptized this morning?

Glorianna: Yes.

Trevor: Will you let Bro. George baptize you?

Pause…
Glorianna: Why?

Trevor: Bro. George is the one who usually does the baptizing. So if you really want to be baptized, he would be the one to baptize you.

Pause…
Glorianna: Well, I want to do what’s right.

Trevor: And why is this right?

Glorianna: I want to do what God wants me to do.

Trevor: So if God wanted you to be a missionary in Africa, you’d go? You couldn’t take your princess blanket with you.

Glorianna: If God wanted me to go to Africa, I’d go.

Trevor: So you’ll let Bro. George baptize you then?

Glorianna: Yes.

Well then….There you have it…

So it was agreed that Glorianna would get baptized on Sunday (Mother’s Day). Or so we thought. The baptismal pool had just been painted, so it wasn’t able to be used that day. The deacons asked us if we’d wait until Wednesday night or the following Sunday morning. That was fine.

We talked it over with Glorianna and decided to wait until the following Sunday morning so that my family could witness it.

Again our plans changed. Wednesday night as we were getting ready for church, Glorianna talked about getting baptized that night. I told her that I thought we would wait until Sunday. She didn’t want to.

Me: Why do you want to do it tonight?

Glorianna: I just feel that this is the day.

Me: But don’t you want to wait until Sunday so Gramma and Grampa can see it?

Pause…
Glorianna: No. I want to do it tonight.

Me: but why?

Glorianna: because I just feel that this is the right day to do it.

And on and on she went, talking about how it was the right thing to do, and that this was the right day to do it. She was really excited about it. How could I refuse her?

In yet anther turn of events, Bro. Collins asked Trevor if he’d like to baptize Glorianna instead of Bro. George. Of course Trevor gladly agreed to. Glorianna was happy as well. =)

So Wednesday night (May 15th) Trevor baptized Glorianna in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
