P.E.I. Trip – Part Three

Monday, August 25:

It was a little cooler today and cloudy, but the weather was still very nice. Just cool enough to wear a jacket but warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. We got to see the grave site of Lucy Maud Montgomery today. It is very well taken care of and it’s a very pretty gravesite. Both her and her husband are buried here. She was married to a minister.

We did a lot of driving today. We wanted to see as much of the island as we could. Thunder Cove Beach is absolutely beautiful! There are so many cool rock formations.

This is Tea Cup Rock. It was supposed to have another large cool shaped rock on top of this flat one, but a hurricane took it out about 2 years ago. That is so crazy to think about. Even tho Trevor was disappointed to not be able to see that rock formation, he still enjoyed walking out to the spot and standing on the flat part of the rock anyway. He said the water was very cold, but that didn’t stop him from taking a quick swim.

Stacking rocks is always fun. These were already stacked but Trevor had to add a couple more.

We had lunch at the Willow Bakery. The blueberry cold brew coffee was amazing. It had frozen blueberries in it.

More amazing views from another part of the island.

Prince Edward Island is known for their potatoes. Honest. You see signs all over the road for potatoes and other veggies for sale at local road side stands. Apparently the soil is perfect for potato growing. There is even a museum to give you all the history of potatoes on the island. So here we are at the Potato Museum. They even have a small food court inside where you can get french fries or other types of potatoes. We did not get any tho because we wanted to save room for our supper.

We drove back to Charlottetown for supper. We wanted to try one of the nicer restaurants this time. I can’t remember the name of it and I forgot to write it down. Sorry.

I had the steak and fries. Trevor got fish and chips and we split the lobster cheese dip (no picture). My food was a bit too salty, but otherwise it was good.

We then headed back to the house for the night. It had been a long day of driving and site-seeing . This really is a much bigger island than you’d expect. We had a little bit of rain on the drive back to the house but it wasn’t bad at all. Thankfully the weather was nice when we were out and about.

Tuesday, August 26:

We took our time this morning and watch part of the second Anne of Green Gables movie while we had breakfast. We wanted to go back to the Prim Point Lighthouse and spend some time just sitting in chairs and watching the water or reading. We ended up chatting more than reading, but it was still a very nice relaxing couple of hours. We ate lunch at the Prim Point Chowder house. Reviews say that this is the best place on the island for chowder, so I got the clam and bacon potato chowder. It was very good. Trevor got the Lobster sandwich on sourdough bread. He enjoyed that as well.

One of the things that Trevor really wanted to do while we were here was ride bikes. We found a place that rented e-bikes and we had never ridden those before, so we decided to give it a try. I love them!! I want one now. haha. We rode bikes for about 2 hours and had a lot of fun.

After returning our bikes, we went to the “tourist area” of Avonlea Village. It has some cute little old houses that were preserved and turned into little shops and restaurants. We found some nice souvenirs and bought some PEI fries. Those were very good.

This old church is now a restaurant. It actually made me sad to see it used as such but I guess you can’t control what people do. It was still nice to go upstairs and see some of the original pews tho.

Trevor did not go into this room, but he did feel that he had the right to. haha

As were were leaving Avonlea Village, we had about a 5 minute rain shower. We just hung out under the archway until it passed and then headed to our car. We were then greeted by this beautiful double rainbow. The pictures just do not do it justice.

We then played some minigolf. We love minigolf, but this was a stupid coarse. There were 1-2 sand traps at almost every hole and it was very hilly. It was not very fun, but we still enjoyed spending time together.

We walked around some more shops, got some coffee, then went back to the house to finish our movie and have some supper. We stayed up a little later than usual so that we could see the stars. It was so beautiful to just stare up at the wonder of God’s creation. We saw another shooting star, making it the perfect ending to the day.
