Homeschool — Baking Edition

Today, after making a prairie dress for Glorianna, she decided she wanted to do what prairie girls do. I tried to tell her that laudry, dishes, sweeping the floor, and pretty much the stuff I do every day, is the same thing that prairie girls do. She didn’t seem to believe me. Our conversation went something like this.

Glorianna, “Not housework. I wanna do what REAL prairie girls do.”

Me, “But that IS what real prairie girls do. When they aren’t helping do the inside chores, they help their mommies by gathering eggs, and feeding the animals, and stuff like that, but we don’t live on a farm, so we don’t have those kinds of chores.”

Glorianna, “But I don’t want to do big prairie girl stuff. I wanna do LITTLE prairie girl stuff.”

Me, “What do little prairie girls do?”

Glorianna, “Play.”

Oh…how silly of me…

So I gave Glorianna a lesson in baking bread. I did all of the measuring, she did the pouring and mixing. I poured it into the bread pans, but then she placed them into the oven. She is now waiting ever so patiently for the bread to be done.
