Zion started playing basketball this year. He has never played basketball before. Not even at home. So needless to say, he’s not very good at it. But, being homeschoolers, we like to let our kids get as much P.E. as they can. The wii at home only works for so long. So when Zion asked, several times, about playing basketball this year, we thought we’d let him give it a try. I don’t like basketball. It just seems like a “punk kid” kind of sport to me. I don’t know what it is about it, but I am just not comfortable at a basketball game or practice. So Trevor takes Zion to practices when he can, and I only take him on the days when the practices are earlier then Trevor gets home.
Zion’s games have officially started but he has only played 3 games so far. I feel really bad about the fact that I haven’t made any of his games yet. I really do. The first game, I didn’t go to because I wasn’t feeling well. The second game, I didn’t make it to because I was at a friend’s (girls only) birthday party. And this last game, I was baby sitting my 3 neices. So that’s the sad, sad tail. But on a happier note, Zion has games all the way thru February, so there is still plenty more for me to make.
He seems to really like it. I think he’d like it better if the other kids on the team would give him a chance, but since this is his first year, and he has never played before, the other kids realize he isn’t “as good as them” and they just don’t even attempt to let him try. Zion’s coach really tries to work with Zion during practices, tho, so hopefully Zion will improve. I told him, he needs to decide if he wants to do Soccer or Basketball. We had been doing Spring and Fall Soccer. But if he’s going to do Winter Basketball, then we’ll probably knock out the Fall Soccer. It’s not really fair to the other 2 kids, but Sports all year long, just aren’t good for me. I get grumpy. I love being a soccer mom. Soccer is a lot of fun. But basketball, football, baseball….no thanks.
So anyway….Christmas is fast approaching and we have a lot going on. So be sure to stay tuned….
