Trevor decided he didn’t want to have a “birthday party” for his special day. Instead he thought it would be fun to just have a pot luck, fellowship, get together at the park. So this is what we did. We set up our corn hole boards, and the kids played on the playground. We grilled out and enjoyed all of the wonderful food that was brought to share. It was a great way to spend the day. I made Trevor an Angel food cake, instead of the typical bday cake. He likes Angel food cake better, anyway. This was the first Angel food cake I have ever made. I noramlly just buy them already made. It turned out great, and I was quite happy with the accomplishement.

Update on our doves….The mommy has been quite faithful at taking care of her babies. She’s been feeding them a lot more lately and has decided it was time for them to start getting “out and about”. The babies are growing fast and don’t really seem to want to get out of the nest. So mommy just leaves them alone for long periods of time in hopes that they will get out on their own.
Over the weekend, I noticed that they were not in the nest. I often peek at them when I go outside to just see how they are doing. When I noticed that they were gone, i figured that mom must have succeeded in getting them out of their nest. A little while later, I found them. They were sitting in the shade of the tree, which is right next to our house. They are soo cute. They seem to be quite happy with hanging out in this area. Its cool and close to “home”.
The kids are quite fasinated with them. I have to keep reminding them, tho, not to bother the babies. I’d hate for the mom to abandon them, or worse…attack the kids if she’s afraid of her babies getting hurt. So they just keep their distance and watch the babies, who at the moment, are walking around under the tree. =)

A couple of days ago, the Jelly Belly Bus, was at Shimpff’s Candy Store, in Jeffersonville. My kids have had their share of Jelly beans, but have never experienced the “weirdness” of Jelly Bellys. This was an oppertunity I was not going to pass up. So i packed up the kids and off we went. The Jelly Belly people, had a table set up outside of Shimpff’s, with a wheel on it you could spin. The wheel had several different “flavors” on it, and you got to sample whichever flavor you landed on. The tricky part was, you could get either a bad flavor or a good flavor. But you had no way of knowing which one you were getting. There was a good and bad flavor on each slot. Example…Zion landed on the orange one. It was “Juicy Peach or Barf”. You just had to eat the orange one and hope you didn’t get the bad flavor. Zion lucked out. He got “Juicy Peach”. Glorianna landed on the blue one which was “Berry or Toothpaste”. Not too bad either way, really. Her’s ended up being toothpaste. Azariah landed on the red one. It was either “Strawberry Jam or Centipede”. Ewww…. Poor Riah. His wasn’t Strawberry Jam. I thought he was going to be sick. He never wants to eat a Jelly Belly Bean again. I chickened out. I was not about to spin that wheel. I’m not a fan of jelly beans anyway, and the weird flavors just aren’t my thing. My luck, I’d have landed on the black one …”Licorice or Skunk Spray”. That’s just gross.
So after that interesting expericnce, the kids got free Shimpff’s hats, balloons and I bought them some “good candy” from Shimpff’s.
