Glorianna’s Birthday and Mother’s Day

Where do I even begin? May is always a busy month for us because of birthdays and Mother’s day, and this year was even more so because Glorianna was finally getting to have her graduation party. So lets just take it one event at a time.

Glorianna turned 18 this year! Crazy. I now have all adult children. Is that weird? Yes….and no. We’ve been hanging out with our kids like friends and buddys for the last couple of years, so it’s not weird in that way. It’s just weird that I can no longer do anything “legally” for them. They now all have to sign things for themselves. So that part is weird. But here we are.

For Glorianna’s birthday, she decided she wanted to just have a couple of friends over for games and keep it small. She’s been wanting to do a “writer’s retreat” for a few years now, so she decided that that was what she wanted to do for her 18th, instead of having a big party. She has been saving her money, and she’s reserved a cabin with a friend that is also a writer, and they are going to have a 4 day get away.

Since her birthday fell on a friday, it was perfect for her friends to come over that evening. It was Italian themed and we had amazing food a lots of fun.

Chicken Gnocchi Soup

Braided Garlic Bread

Salad

Glorianna made her own cake. Two layer cheesecake. Chocolate on the bottom, Strawberry on the top with Chocolate covered strawberries.

The family all pitched in and got her a kitchen aid mixer. She’s been wanting one for a while so we decided this was a great birthday and graduation present.

She had a really great time and said it was her best birthday every.

Since Mother’s Day was the same weekend, my only desire was to have all of my kids home for lunch that day so we could eat and play games together. The kids all pitched in for Carali’s Rotisserie Chicken (Soooo good. I love that place) and Glorianna bought me some Roses.

We didn’t end up playing games but ended up having good family discussion and conversation that lasted the entire afternoon. It was awesome.
