This is our last day of Vacation. Or at least away from home. Trevor doesn’t have to return to work until July 5th, so we still have a few more “family” days when we get home.
We had decided we have seen enough of Chicago. There were still a couple of museums we hadn’t seen yet, and one of those were another freebie, but we were all ready to head home. We checked out of our hotel and began the long treck home.
Trevor mentioned stopping at “Fair Oaks Dairy Farm” on the way home, as a halfway point. We were only about 6 hours from home, so I said, why not. “Fair Oaks” is the biggest Dairy farm in Indiana and one of the biggest in the U.S. They take you on a guided bus tour of their farm, show you where the cows live, have their babies, and where they are milked. We even got to watch a calf being born. That was cool!! For those of you who get to see this all the time (you know who you are), don’t laugh at us poor city folk who feel special now. HA HA.
There were also several things for the kids to do. They have a rock climbing “milk carton” wall. The boys tried this a couple of times but could only make it about half way up. They’d just freeze and not be able to go any further. Glorianna, on the other hand, seems to have her daddy’s rock climbing skills. She shimmied on up that rock wall 5-6 times with no problem at all, and rang the bell each time.
Next up with the giant trampolines where you can bungie. Azariah didn’t want to try this one, but the other two did. Zion did very well. He even flipped a few times. Glorianna did very well, too, also mastering a few flips.
After all of the fun was done, we headed over to their “shop” area and bought some ice cream, cheese and coffee.
Fair Oaks is awesome!! http://fofarms.com/en/home#Scene_1
I’d go back again. The kids hated to leave, but we really needed to get home, so off we went, for the last and final stretch of the trip.
We made it home about 8:00 pm. Much later then we wanted, but still early enough that we didn’t have to crash right away.
Thus ends our vacation. It was a wonderful 2 weeks. We have really enjoyed spending the last few days just being home and doing family stuff. Trevor will soon be returning to work and life as we know it will be returning to normal.
