Thursday, September 22 – We decided to skip breakfast this morning. We’ve grown tired of croissants. So I just had a granola bar and some coffee and we set out for a little more site seeing before we needed to get ready for the wedding. There was an old castle type overlook not far from our room, so we waked to the top of that and were presented with a wonderful view.
After walking back down, we went into the museum that was next door. It was one of the places our day pass got us into for free. Since we were still less that 24 hours from the purchase time, we were able to still use our pass. This museum had a lot of history about the old castle and Roman Theatre we were in.
This is what they think the original Roman Theatre looked like.
After leaving the museum, we walked through some shops and bought some souvenirs, had some lunch, and then found a grocery store. This was pretty exciting since we were wanting some drinks for our room and I wanted something different for breakfast. We found a small box of cereal and some milk, as well as some large bottles of lemon soda. Trevor discovered this on the first day of our trip and quickly became addicted. haha. He was so happy to be able to find some to take back to our room. He was even able to fit a large bottle into our suitcases to bring home with us. I’m not sure what we are going to do when we get home and can’t get lemon soda anymore.
Bro Isaac picked us up around 2 and it was off to the wedding.
Congratulations to Marco and Spranza!!
Made some new friends. Sharon and Noemi
Menu was in Italian. I had to ask someone to translate for me. haha.
Translation: Pumpkin Risotto with crispy bacon and robiola cream (this was ok…not my favorite, but not terrible)
Duck Lasagna/noodles (This was amazing! I’d eat this again any time. So good)
Roast Beef with Polenta and seasonal veggies (this was ok. Not terrible, just ok. The Polenta is basically corn mash. We didn’t get a picture of the veggies, but they were a mix of summer veggies and potatoes)
Dessert (I didn’t have any. I was too full by this point. It was cupcakes and wedding cake)
Overall the wedding was nice. But Italian weddings are really long. The wedding started at 3:30 and we finally had Bro Isaac take us back to our room at around 11, but the reception was still going on. After the 3 course meal, dessert, slide show, games and just general sitting around chatting, we were so tired and so ready to go to bed. I was told that the wedding finally ended around 1 AM. This seems to be normal in Italy.
Final Part Coming Soon…..
