Last Saturday, the “Keepers of the Faith” group, hosted a Science Fair. Zion, Megan S. and Jacob S. were the ones who decided to have it, so we let them “host” it and Elaine S. and I “cohosted”. They kids did very well.
Each child came up with something “Science” based to do a project on. I was highly impressed with everyone’s work. They all did an awesome job! We divided the kids into two groups. Kidnergarden – 2nd grade and 3rd grade – up. (I don’t think there is anyone past 6th grade in this group anyway).Â
Each project was voted on by kids and parents. The winner of each group recieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards.
Azariah chose to do his project on “Chariots”. I helped him pick some books from the library, and do a little research on the computer, but he put the display together himself, and even made his own chariot. I thought he did very well. Even if his wasn’t one of the “winners.”
Zion decided to study “Morse Code”. He too, got a book from the library and did some research on the computer. He then made his own “telegraph” machine to demonstrait how morse code works.  Good Job Zion!
Glorianna wanted to do her project on “horses”. So instead of doing a full blown display, (because she’s so young) I helped her do a lapbook on horses. She did a great job. She did all of the coloring and most of the writing herself. She even told me what she wanted each section of the book to say. She was heartbroken when she didnt’ get a trophy so she’s not very happy in this picture. Poor baby. It was hard for her to compete with the 1st and 2nd graders.Â
This is the project that won 1st place and a trophy, in the “younger” group. He explained how lava lamps work and then showed us how they worked with an experiment. Well done!
Kimberly won 3rd place in the “younger group” for her “Bats” display. She even came in costume. Very cute and very well done.
Grace W. won 2nd place in the “older” group for her “Healthy Horse” display, complete with props. (She is also modeling one of my latest skirts)Â
Alowa R. won 3rd place for her “Animation Praxinoscope” display. Well done!!
This “Tornado” display won 2nd place in the “younger” group. A bro and sis did this one together and did a great job on it.
1st place and a trophy for the “older kids” went to Jacob S. and his display. He showed us how you can use water to move things. Excellent job!!
The whole group!!
Some of the other displays. All of them were very well done and it was very hard to pick just one winner. I wish we could have had more prizes. As it was tho, all of the kids did get “participation” ribbons. And because it is also a “Keepers” event, they will all recieve a “keepers science badge” as well.
“Electricity”
“DNA”. This was was great!! She really went into a lot of detail. I’m surprised she didn’t win.
Megan, Zion and Jacob greet everyone, thank everyone for coming and hand out the awards.
