As much as I’d love for my kids to just sit down and listen to a tape on their own, I have never forced the issue, because I don’t want them to think they “have to”. I want them to “want to”.ÂÂ
Well a few weeks ago, the boys decided they wanted to start doing the quizzes out of the Cub Corner Magazines. I was all for it. I really didn’t know how long it would last and if they’d actually make it all the way through an entire message before they wanted to quit, but I figured I’d start anyway and see what happened.ÂÂ
They made it all the way thru “A Prisoner”. They didn’t want to stop until they had completed the entire quiz. Even when I told them we could break it up and do a little bit here and there, they stuck with it and went thru the whole thing.ÂÂ
The next week they wanted to do another one. So this time they listened to “The Queen of Sheba” and made it all the way thru that one as well.ÂÂ
They were both very happy to have succeeded and very excited when they both recieved Cub Corner Coins in the mail today.ÂÂ
So after school was done today, we headed over to “Michael’s” craft store, to see if we could find something for the boys to keep their coins in. They picked out the type of box they wanted and a few stickers to go on it. Then we can home and they painted and decorated their boxes.
The finished products…
Zion came up with this all on his own. I really wasn’t sure what he wanted to make at first. When I figured it out, I was quite impressed.
Azariah also came up with his own idea. I can’t say that I was surprised tho. He’s pretty predictable. He’s all about pirates. So his box is call “the treasure box” where he can keep his “gold coins”.ÂÂ
It sure makes a mommy proud!
