12 Years and Counting…

It was 12 years ago, (on August 12th) that Trevor and I exchanged vows, promising to love, honor and cherish each other for the rest of our lives.

To celebrate our wonderful 12 years of marriage, Trevor and I had planned to leave the kids with a friend on Saturday, and head up to Cincinnati for the day. It seemed, tho, that we were not supposed to go. We had just dropped our van off to our local friend/mechanic, and headed across the bridge to see a Soccer game we had been given tickets to. Just as we crossed the bridge, something went “Clank, thunk” and we saw a black something-or-other rolling across the road. Not knowing what it was, but knowing it had come from the truck, we turned around as quickly as we could in hopes to make it back across the bridge. But we didn’t make it very far. The warning lights were now all on, the power steering was gone and the truck was starting to overheat. So we pulled off in a nearby gas station, (in a not so pleasant part of town) to see what the problem was. We called our local friend/mechanic to inform him of what had happened. He headed our direction in hopes of fixing the problem for us.

To cut the story short… The tensioner had broken off , therefore causing the belt to come off… But thank the Lord, Bro. David was able to fix it and we headed back home. The soccer game was over at this point, so we had no reason to stick around in Louisville any longer.

This happening, we decided it was not a good idea to head to Cincinnati on Saturday. So instead we got up on Saturday morning and took the kids to Frazier Arms Museum. They had a Samurai exhibit that we had been wanting to see, and the kids really enjoyed it. After that, we dropped the kids off at a friends house and headed out for our “date”.

We went to “Olive Garden” for lunch. It was very tasty. We spent a long time just talking and probably would have talked longer had another couple not came in and sat right next to us. It made it a bit harder to talk, so we just left. We then went “shopping”. Neither Trevor or I really shop all that much. But I wanted a new purse, since I haven’t actually bought myself a purse in several years, so off we went. We hit a few different stores, in which Trevor was able to find some ties, and a nice sports jacket for himself, before I finally found a purse that just had me written all over it. ha ha . Trevor was starting to feel bad that he was finding stuff and I wasn’t, but it worked out great. After that, we went to the “Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen”. Trevor had a craving for their Turtle Ice Cream Pie. We spend some more time just talking, before finally heading back to our friends house to pick up the kids. We ended up staying at their house for supper, and not leaving until 9:30.

Over all it was a wonderful day and I really enjoyed just spending time with my wonderful husband. I’m truly blessed and couldn’t be happier. The Lord gave me a wonderful husband, who is a terrific father and Spiritual leader. We have come a long way in our 12 years of marriage, and every year just gets better.

(This picture was taken in Pennsylvania a few months back. We didn’t get one of us on our actual anniversary, even tho I kept saying we needed to…but we haven’t changed any since this was taken, so this will work until I get another one…we’re hoping to get one tonight…if I do I’ll update…)
